The Fourth DCA Welcomes New Courthouse
Following a serious infestation of mold and related water intrusion issues, the Florida legislature appropriated $18 million for the construction of a new 40,000 foot courthouse which is now located at 110 South Tamarind Avenue in West Palm Beach between Clematis and Datura streets.
The 4th DCA–which hears appeals from Broward, Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie, Indian River, and Okeechobee Counties–was stationed at its original West Palm Beach courthouse on Palm Beach Lakes in 1970 for almost 50 years when it became obvious to state planners that a cost efficiency analysis dictated the construction of a new building versus a complete restoration of the existing dilapidated structure.
The courthouse’s presence will bring a lot of activity to the restaurants and amenities in the area — including Cityplace, which is just a few blocks to the southeast of the site.
